The Inn at Warner Hall is pleased to feature a local marine biologist at our third event in the Dinner and Discussion series.
On Wednesday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m., Paula Jasinski will present “Your Eco Guide to the Chesapeake Bay: Understanding the Waters We Love” for discussion.
It’s about coming together to learn something new and build a sense of community. We’ve found already that the conversations carry over to dinner, making for lively conversation. It brings the Inn alive and we love fostering community and conversation.
Paula’s discussion will be followed by a gourmet buffet dinner by Warner Hall’s Chef Eric Garcia.
Paula was born and raised in the Northern Neck and has more than 20 years of experience in environmental research and established Chesapeake Environmental Communications in 2007. She’s worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), a wide variety of non-profits and academic groups, and previously ran a Maryland-based environmental mapping and spatial analysis consulting company.
Her expertise includes estuarine ecology to data development and analysis and climate change impacts. In 2008, she was appointed to staff Virginia’s Commission on Climate Change under Governor Tim Kaine. In the same year, she led a federal inter-agency committee to address climate change impacts in the Chesapeake Bay. Some of her current projects include developing an e-book atlas of the Chesapeake Bay for high school students, recommending fisheries reform measures for the blue crab industry, and identifying priority restoration projects for NOAA.
Paula earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Marine Science from William and Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
The “Dinner and a Discussion” events are $50 per person and include a delicious buffet dinner by Chef Eric, complimentary wine and the featured speaker.
The next event will be held Wednesday, July 24, and will lead attendees from the earthly waters that surround us, to the sky and planets above. Warner Hall is delighted to welcome NASA Scientist, Kevin Vipavetz, for a discussion about our solar system. Seating is limited.
